Nellie Norene Roberts Bennion, 82, died Sunday Nov 20, 1994 at the McKay Dee Hospital in Ogden, UT from complications of heart failure. Burial was in the Afton Cemetery Saturday Nov 26, 1994
She was born Aug 1, 1912 to Samuel Roberts Jr. and Nellie Lloyd Roberts in Afton. She was married to Stanley Bennion June 1, 1933 in the Salt Lake Temple. She was a beautician and operated a beauty shop in Afton for 15 years. While they were living in Afton she and Stan operated the Thrifty Drug Store. After leaving Star Valley they lived in Pocatello and Logan before moving to Roy, UT where they operated the Bennion Drug Store and other businesses.
The past seven years they have spent some of the winter months in St. George enjoying the climate and friends. She has always been an active member of the LDS Church and especially enjoyed serving in the Primary and Jr. Sunday School. She was a member of the 8th Ward in Roy and was ward organist for 25 years.
She and Stan served a mission in the North Salt Lake Mission. She was a member of the Sand Rose Camp of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She and Stan were chosen as grand marshals of the Roy Days Parade in 1990.
She is survived by her husband Stan of 61 years; sons David, Richard and Keith; daughter Merrily Hoopes; 15 grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, one brother Arthur Roberts and one sister Mrs Reed (Joyce) Brown. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers Lloyd and Ivan Roberts.
