Funeral service was held Sunday at 3 p.m. at Forest Chapel Church for John Robert Armstrong of Chicota, who died there Saturday at 11:30 p.m. at the home of his son, Joe Armstrong. Pallbearers were Hugh Lynch, Marvin Annett, Bud Hillman, Hardy Renfro, Floyd Cass and Ross B. Sipes, and the Rev. J. L. Wideman officiated.
Born at Chicota, January 8, 1857, he had farmed in this vicinity all his life. Surviving are these children: Joe and Robert Armstrong, and Mrs. Lucy Gentry, Chicota; Mrs. Mary Cain, and Mrs. Annie Francis, Biardstown; Mrs. Olivia Towers and Mrs. Ella Booth, Paris; Ned Armstrong, Fresno, Calif., and Richard Armstrong and Mrs. Ludie Mae Sparks, San Jose, Calif., besides these brothers and sisters; Dr. J. E. Armstrong, Paris; W. C. Armstrong, Biardstown; Mrs. Mattie Williams, Paris, and Mrs. J. L. Poteet, Biardstown, besides 50 grandchildren.
