Sarah was born in North Carolina and was the daughter of Josiah Perry and Elizabeth. She is listed in Josiah's will as daughter "Salley Stephens".
Sarah married Moore Stevenson in Sept, 1779. They had moved to Tennessee by 1794 where Moore became a very successful farmer. In 1800 Moore became a preacher and started a church which later became the Mt Olivet Baptist Church.
Sarah died at the age of 84 years according to Tennessee Records (see above) and was buried in the Stevenson Rutland Cemetery, which is located on the old homeplace of Moore's friend Blake Rutland.
