Bernice was married to Anne (Andy) Veenema. She was the daughter of William T. and Maude Mae (Clark) Raymond. Her first husband was Carl Henry Stephens.

VEENEMA — Bernice E. Veenema passed away peacefully at her daughter's home in Jenison on Sunday morning, June 15, 2003, at the age of 93. She was born on May 23, 1910 in Grand Rapids, the daughter of William and Maude Raymond. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Carl H. Stephens and Andy Veenema; son, Richard Carl Stephens; and daughter, Marilee Ruth Stephens Provot. Mrs. Veenema is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Carla and Kenneth Lemmon; son-in-law, Bert Provot; 10 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place, and she will be interred at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Grand Rapids. The family expresses their deep appreciation to the staff and volunteers of Hospice of Michigan for their excellent care. Memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Veenema's honor to Hospice of Michigan, 1260 Ekhart NE, 49503.
