Thief River Falls - Dennis Anderson, 67, died on Monday, September 6, 2004 at his home in Thief River Falls.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, September 10, at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, with Rev. Mark Helgeland officiating. Interment will be held at Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls.
Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. on Thursday, September 9, at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, with a 7 p.m. prayer service and for one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.
Dennis Myron Anderson was born July 29, 1937, in Spring Brook Township, Kittson County, in the northeast side of the living room on the family farm. He was the son of the late Melvin and Florence (Sjostrand) Anderson. He was baptized and confirmed at East Emmaus Lutheran Church near Kennedy. He grew up and attended country school and graduated from Kennedy High School, Class of 1955. He helped on the family farm as he grew.
The summer of 1955, Dennis entered the United States Marines, where he worked as an airplane mechanic. He served in Japan, the Philippines and was honorably discharged in 1959.
He took over the family farm in Spring Brook Township in 1960 and on July 15, 1961, he was united in marriage to Marlys Swanson in Hallock. The couple farmed until 1965, when they moved to Thief River Falls. Dennis sold Bell Tone Hearing Aides, a delivery salesman for Peters Meat, worked for Stordahl Truckline as well as Hartz Foods.His last job was for Mobile Imaging, from which he retired in 1999. He also owned Anderson Windshield Repair.
Dennis was an active member of Redeemer Lutheran Church where he served on the council and sang in the choir. He loved to fish, deer hunt, camp and travel. Dennis enjoyed his family and loved to spend time with them. He enjoyed accumulating old things. During his early years of marriage, Dennis sang in a barbershop quartet with a group from the Lancaster area.
Survivors include his wife, Marlys of Thief River Falls, children, Charles Jon Anderson of Newport News, Va., Denice Marie (Dale) Nelson of Thief River Falls, and Thomas Jon (Kari) Anderson of West Fargo, N.D.; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brother, Donald E. Anderson of Eagan; brother-in-law, Orris Baldwin of Stratton, Colo.; sister-in-law, Darlyne (George) Koch of Puposky and many cousins, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandson; his parents; grandparents and sister, Avis.
