Son of William Cornelius Humbyrd and Ora Marie Hargis.

Douglas County Herald, Ava, Douglas, Missouri, September 9, 2004: "DEATHS: Rev. William Ira Humbyrd, 86 -- Rev. William Ira Humbyrd went to be with Jesus on Monday, Sept. 6, 2004, at the age of 86.
Ira was born May 18, 1918, to Neal and Ora (Hargis) Humbyrd. On May 21, 1938, he married Fay Robirds, daughter of Jim and Edna (Gray) Robirds, and to this union four children were born.
Preceding Ira in death were his parents, two sisters and one great-granddaughter.
Ira is survived by his wife of 66 years, Fay; three sons, Ronald Humbyrd and wife, June, of Pasco, Wash., Doyle Humbyrd and wife, Frances, and Rob Humbyrd and wife, Pam, all of Ava; one daughter, Diane Mayberry and husband, Jim, of Republic; nine grandchildren, Rhonda, Delvin, Stan, Jeff, Sonya, Angie, Brad, Nathan and Joe Bill; six great-grandchildren, Andrew, Aaron, Dane, Jordan, Isaac, and Monica; one brother, Sam Humbyrd, of Ava; two sisters, Rosa Carvella, of Midland, Mich., and Lucille and Russell Sanders, of Springfield.
Ira served in World War II in the United States Navy. He was a faithful pastor, serving at Roy Union Church for seven years and Basher Pentecostal Church for 32 years. Ira owned and operated a dairy and beef farm in Douglas County for 60 years. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He loved his Lord and his passion was winning lost souls.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. today (Thursday), Sept. 9, in Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with the Revs. Leslie Buckner and Junior Hall officiating. Interment will be in the Ava Cemetery with full military honors by Douglas County American Legion Post 112 and Ava VFW Post 5993.,
Visitation was from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
