Joseph W. "sonny" Girten, 60, of Pigeon Gap Road, died at 1:52 am Tuesday (Dec. 20, 1994) at Good Samaritan Medical Center, Zanesville.
He was born Feb. 10, 1934, in Union County, KY, son of Mrs. Catherine Fenwick Girten of Uniontown, KY, and the late Martin Austin Girten.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War, a member of Ohio Operating Engineers Local 18, St. Agnes Catholic Church, Uniontown, KY, and VFW Guernsey Post 2901.
Mr. Giren leaves his wife, Glenda Kohl Girten, whom he married Oct. 1, 1981; two sons, Marty Girten of Vaverly, KY, and Joseph "Bo" Girten of Henderson, KY; two daughters, Kathy Windell and Loni Bollas, both of Louisville; two stepdaughters, Sandy Roffee of Cambridge and Suzanne Gurley of Robinson, IL; a sister, Margaret Ann Ford of Uniontown, KY; and 15 grandchildren.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm Wednesday at Thorn Funeral Home and from 4 to 8 pm Thursday at Whitsell Funeral Home, 250 N. Court St., Morganfield, KY.
Services will be 10 am Friday at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Uniontown, KY. Burial will be in St. Agnes Catholic Cemetery.
