Deloris Adkins - 1928-2008

Deloris Adkins, 80, of Rush died Thursday, Nov. 13, 2008, at King's Daughters Medical Center in Ashland. She was born May 31, 1928, in Rush, a daughter of the late Benjamin and Ethel Hensley Burton. She was a homemaker and of the Christian faith.

She also was preceded in death by her husband Carl Adkins; one grandson, Kevin Crisp; and a special friend, Pearl Woods.

She is survived by three sons, Jerry (Barbara) Burton of Columbia, Tenn., Michael (Lois) Burton of Midland, Mich., Tommy Burton of Colonial Heights, Va.; two daughters, Trecia (Brent) Perry and Edith Webb, both of Ashland; one sister, Louella Moore of Ashland; 31 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, three special friends, Kim Gillum, Tim Burton and Dave Barber.

In addition to these Deloris leaves behind a host of relatives and friends who will sadly miss her and mourn her passing.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Sparks Funeral Home by Tim Waggoner and James McCown. Burial will follow in the East Carter County Memory Gardens.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday Nov. 15, 2008, at Sparks Funeral Home in Grayson, and one hour prior to services on Sunday.
