Alvah R. Ballantine, 77, who had worked as an irrigator and sheepherder for Garber Brothers at Big Horn, (WY) died Sunday, June 21, 1981 at the Sheridan Veterans Administration Medical Center, Sheridan, Wyoming.

He was born Nov. 12, 1903, at Atkinson, Neb., a son of Robert Thomas and Lydia Malinda Sutherland Ballantyne. He never married.

Ballantine was a veteran of World War II, having served in the North Africa campaign. Prior to entering the service he had worked in area coal mines. Upon being discharged from the armed forces he returned to Sheridan County and went to work for Garber Brothers.

Survivors included three sisters, Ruth Parris, Mina Olson and Janet Bradshaw all of San Jose, Calif.

Graveside services were held at the Big Horn Cemetery with the Rev. Russell Kent officiating. Champion Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
