Daily Press – Tuesday, Jan. 23, 1962 – MRS. ALBERT GETMAN – Fort Plain – 87, widow of Albert Getman, died yesterday in the Canajoharie Nursing Home. She was born Sammonsville but lived in Fort Plain for many years. She was a member of Fort Plain Reformed Church and it Missionary Society. Women's Club, Rainbow Rebekah Lodge, Moyova Zuana and Past Noble Grands Association. Mr. Getman died in 1928. She leaves several cousins. The funeral will be at 2 Thursday from the Swartz Funeral Home with the Rev. Gordon Alexander, of Fort Plain Reformed Church, officiating. Burial will be in Ephratah Rural Cemetery. A Rebekah service will be conducted at 7:30 tomorrow.

She was born in Sammonsville, Feb. 10, 1875. She is a member of the Reformed Church, the Missionary Society and a member of the Rainbow Rebekah Lodge. Fort Plain Past Noble Grands Club. Past Noble Grands Association, Moyova Zuanna, and the Fort Plain Womans Club. She celebrated the occasion by entertaining members of the club at her home Friday and was presented with a birthday cakel. Mrs. Getman is a descendent of the early settlers of the Village of Sammonsville Her great grandfather, Samson Sammons was born Nov 3, 1793, in that vicinity. She speaks of a grist mill, a saw mill and a paper mill that were in operation in her grandfather's time. Her grandfather was Thomas S. Sammons after whom the village was named Oct. 14, 1819.
