EPHRATAH WOMAN TAKES HER LIFE WITH BUTCHER KNIFE
Fort Plain. Dec, 11 - Mrs. Albert N. Getman, aged 45 years, committed suicide at her home near Ephratah, just north of this village, yesterday morning. It cannot be learned that any family trouble was responsible for the deed. Mrs. Getman had not been in the best of health for a long time, and during the past week she had exhibited signs of mental disorders and is said to have threatened to take her life. In the later hours of Monday night, after the family had retired. Mr. Getman awakened to find his wife leaning over him with a razor in her hand. She made an attempt to cut him with the weapon, but he grabbed her and took it from her. Yesterday morning he went to a neighbor's home to call Dr. G. L. Meyer, leaving his wife, her mother and his son at home. This was at about 8:30 o'clock. A short time after he had left, Mrs. Getman left tho house for the purpose, she stated, of going to a small outbuilding. When she did not return ... and trachea. Life was extinct when she was found. Coroner Joslin of Johnstown was notified and he turned the case over to Dr. G. L. Meyer. Mrs. Getman was held in high esteem by a large circle of friends, and all deeply regret her death. She was born in the town of Palatine and always lived in that section. Besides her husband she is survived by her mother, Mrs. Adam Glenar, and one son. Carl Getman, all of Ephratah. Tho funeral will be held at the home Friday afternoon at 1 o'clock and at the Ephratah Methodist church at 2 o'clock, the Rev. Mr. Sumner officiating. The interment will be in the Ephratah cemetery.
