Edward Paul Warren Sr
61 retired sergeant of the Norfolk Police Division died at a local hospital today after an illness of five years.
Joining the Police Department in August 1918 Warren became a regular patrolman after two months.He was made Sergeant in 1924 and retired in 1943. Warren had served in every precinct except the first and every department except traffic.
A native of Pittsylvania County he was the son of the late Rev W E Warren and Elizabeth Yeaman Warren. He had been a resident of Norfolk for the last 30 years. Warren was a member of Berkley Avenue Baptist Church.
Warren is survived by his wife Mrs Sadie Coleman Warren,two sons, H.C. of Norfolk and E Paul Warren Jr. of Dahlgren; one daughter Miss Louise Warren of Norfolk;two brothers M T Warren of Washington D.C. and W A Warren of Roanoke,four sisters Miss Jo B Warren,Shrieveport La. Mrs Annie Clark of Washington D.C.,Mrs William Rich of Durham N.C.and Mrs Grace Neal and 11 grandchildren.
The body was removed to the Sykes Funeral Home pending funeral arrangements.
