Russel L. "Jake" Snyder, 83, Roaring Spring RD, passed away Sunday at Altoona Regional Health System, Altoona Hospital Campus.

He was born in Roaring Spring, son of the late Daniel T. and Jane (Butler) Snyder. He married E. Pauline Kensinger Sept. 30, 1950. She passed away Dec. 9, 2001.

Surviving are a daughter, Cathy Snyder at home; a son, Wade Snyder of Coudersport; a niece, Neva Dawne Mohney of Claysburg; a nephew, Huston E. Robison of Blue Knob; and special friends, Lloyd and Pat Grace of Roaring Spring.

Jake was a member of Morrisons Cove Baptist Church and a former member of Roaring Spring Mennonite Church. He retired from the ruling department of Roaring Spring Blank Book Co. after almost 50 years of service. He attended the Roaring Spring School District. He enjoyed reading his bible and gardening.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today, Nov. 4, 2008, at Miller Funeral Home, East Freedom. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. James Beach officiating. Interment at Greenlawn Cemetery, Roaring Spring.
