Evan Edwin BOWYER 88, passed away on Monday, March 17,2008 in Newnan, GA.
Evan had resided at the Georgian Place in Newnan, GA for the past 4 years.
Evan was born on February 5,1920 in Johnston City, IL to Ed BOWYER and Cassie HALE BOWYER. Evan was an active member of the First Baptist Church of West Frankfort, where he served as a Deacon, choir member and Sunday school teacher for many years. He graduated from Frankfort Community High School in 1939. He served his country in England and France during WWII in the U.S. Army, reaching the rank of Master Sergeant. Evan retired as a postal carrier for the U.S. Postal Service after 28 years of service.
Evan was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 49 years: Christine; son: Jim; four brothers. Evan is survived by two sons: Tim BOWYER and his wife Jan of Newnan, GA: Bill BOWYER and his wife Deana of Wake Forest, NC; grandchildren: Ashley and Matt VASCONCELLES of Newnan, GA; Linley BOWYER of Walnut Creek, CA; Jacob BOWYER and John BOWYER of Wake Forest, NC; great grandsons: Ethan VASCONCELLES and Charles VASCONCELLES of Newnan, GA; several sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at the First Baptist Church in West Frankfort at 12 p.m. on Friday, March 21, 2008 with Rev. Bill BOWYER and Rev. Mike CASH officiating. Family will receive friends on Friday, March 21, 2008 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the church for visitation. Interment will be held at the Boner Cemetery, West Frankfort. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the First Baptist Church of West Frankfort memorial fund. Envelopes will be available and will also be accepted at the church. The Union Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
