FRED RUSSELL PRESLEY Died November 28, 2004, in San Leandro, CA after a brief illness. He was born on February 15, 1914 in Oakland, CA to the late Joseph and Nellie Presley. He was preceded in death by Claire, his beloved wife of 55 years and by his son, John. He is survived by his daughters, Lynn Gardner (Robert) of Walnut Creek, Joan Presley of Reno, NV and Gail Mini (Tom) of San Leandro and by his grandchildren, Andrew and Ellen Gardner and Sean Mini. Fred was a kind, funny and intelligent man. He was shy but very worth getting to know. He made friends wherever he went; he was the kind of man people loved to talk to. He was a great walker, an avid reader, a devoted family man and he loved trains. Fred prided himself on recently having ridden every mile of every BART line. Fred was a World War II veteran of the United States Navy, having served in the South Pacific. He worked at Sunshine Biscuits in Oakland for 40 years, beginning his career sweeping floors and retiring as Western Region comptroller. He then enjoyed another career in the advertising industry as well as some travel and leisure with Claire. Fred was a native Californian and lived his entire life in Alameda County. He loved the Bay Area and shared its back roads and beauty with whomever could keep up with him. He was very much loved by very many people and will be missed, in particular by his loving daughters. Services at Santos-Robinson Mortuary, 160 Estudillo Avenue, San Leandro, at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 1, 2004. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Saint Anthony's Dining Room.
