Our subject was born August 21, 1780, and died August 31, 1827. He was united in marriage with Mary Magdelena RENNER, who came from Washington County, Pa., to Fairfield County, Ohio, in 1813. First located on banks of Little Rush Creed, east of Bremen, Ohio, then all in the brush and under water. Soon after, located southeast of Bremen on quarter section of land adjoining Solomon Hoffert on the north, where he lived, died, and was buried on same. When they came from Pennsylvania, their family consisted of only four of the first born. They traveled on horseback, with their goods sacked, which was carried on their horses. Wife remained his widow for forty-one years. Wife died and was buried by the side of her husband. The wife endured many hardships in order to pay for the farm, which she finally accomplished. She was a very devoted Christian. Both were communicants of the German-Baptist or Dunkard church. ... Their graves are well fenced with iron.
