Nettie Hackworth Crooks, 65, who resided with a daughter, Mrs. Ada Kazee, died in the King’s Daughter’s Hospital Sunday, Feb 3, 1952, following an illness of 2 yrs. Mrs. Crooks, who was a resident of Ashland for 60 yrs, was born Sept 5, 1886 in Lawrence County, Ohio. She was a member of the Unity Baptist Church. Her husband, Alfa Crooks, died two yrs ago. Funeral will be held Feb 5, at 2 pm at the Unity Baptist Church with Rev C B Coots officiating. Burial following in the Dixon Cemetery.
Pallbearers: Carl Proffitt, Hugh Horne, M. Barbour, Ray Walton, William Kazee, and Lonnie Crooks. Surviving family include six daughters: Mrs. Ada Kazee, Ashland, KY; Mrs. Anna Daugherty of Baltimore, MD; Mrs. Wilma Irene Stone of Pratt, WV; Mrs. Sarah Canterbury of Whitesville, WV: Mrs. Helen Gillis of Palestine, OH; and Mrs. Loretta Kohls of Cincinnati, OH; three sons: Elwood Crooks of Ashland, KY; John Crooks in the US Army Camp Pickett VA; and Lewis Crooks, US Navy at sea; and 18 grandchildren.
