Mrs. Ida (John W.) Kendall, life-long Farmer City resident and civic leader, died early Saturday morning, October 10, 1947 at her home on North Plum Street. She had been ill and bedfast for a few days. Funeral services were held at the local Methodist Church with burial in Maple Grove cemetery.

She was born in Farmer City on November 9, 1869 and was one of ten children of Thomas LeRoy and Rosetta Walker Ijams, pioneer residents. She married John W. Kendall on January 22, 1890 in Normal.

He survives along with a son, John T. of this city; a daughter, Mrs. Mary Lilly Herget of Peoria; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren; also two sisters: Mrs. Ella Nichols, Ft Lauderdale FL; and Mrs. Edith Curtis, Des Moines IA; and one brother, John Ijams of Whittier CA. A son, Lloyd, preceded her in death as did three sisters and four brothers.

Mrs. Kendall was a civic leader and active in church work; member of the Methodist Church; past matron of Louie Chapter No. 155 of the Order of the Eastern Star; member of the Farmer City Woman's Club; and active member of the Farmer City Public Library board.

Grandsons and nephews who were casket bearers were: Richard and Reynale Kendall, Max Kumler, Scott Ijams, Sam Ijams, Guy Ijams and Grover W. Watson. Flower bearers were Mrs. H. C. Derr, Mrs. William Faris, Miss Helen Hallowell, Mrs. L. W. Russell, Mrs. Arthur Bates, Mrs. R. R. McCarty, Mrs. Lillian Morrical, Mrs. Rose Roberson, Mrs. Roy Rock, Mrs. Sim Wilson, Mrs. O. B. Pace, Mrs. Marietta Williams, Mrs. Robert Tharp, Mrs. F. R. Stoughton and Mrs. Bertha Frank.
