Alice Phila Widner, 99, of Hawthorne, California, formerly of Lewellen, died January 30, 2003 at her home in Hawthorne. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, May 18, 2003 at the United Methodist Church in Lewellen with Pastor Ray Weinerman officiating. Inurnment will follow in Ash Hollow Cemetery in Lewellen, next to her husband. A memorial has been established to the American Cancer Society. Holechek Funeral Home in Oshkosh is in charge of arrangements.
Alice was born on August 13, 1903 in Sutherland. She married Harold "Buck" Widner and they were the owners/proprietors of Alice and Buck's Grocery Store in Lewellen for thirty-five years.
Alice is survived by her daughter, Mardine Powell of California; eleven grandchildren twenty-four great-grandchildren thirteen great-great grandchildren and one great-great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold "Buck" Widner and her adopted daughter Alice Roberson.
