Margaret Louise Clark, 88, of Oshkosh, passed away, Tuesday, January 23,2007, at the Garden County Hospital in Oshkosh.

Memorial services were held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 27, 2007, at the United Methodist Church in Oshkosh with Pastors Ray Weinerman and Glen Emert co-officiating. Eastern Star rites were held at the church by the Oshkosh Chapter #264 Order of the Eastern Star. Inurnment was in the Ash Hollow Cemetery south of Lewellen.

A memorial has been established in Margaret's name.

Holechek Funeral Home in Oshkosh was in charge of the arrangements.

Margaret Louise was born to John Alaric and Essa May Hayes Rhoades on July 29, 1918 at home in Chappell, Nebraska. In 1922, she moved with her parents to a farm, southwest of Oshkosh, Nebraska. She attended District 56 country school.

After her father's death in 1929, she moved to Chappell with her mother and younger brother. She attended the Chappell schools and graduated from Deuel County High School in 1986.

Margaret was baptized and became a member of the Chappell Methodist Episcopal Church in April of 1930, where she became active in the Sunday and the Epworth League activities, and often played the piano for the evening church worship services.

On May 23, 1937, she married Marvin L. Clark at the home of her mother in Chappell. The first eight years of their marriage they lived on a farm east of Chappell, then moved to her mother's farm southwest of Oshkosh in 1944. This is where they raised their three children.

She became a member of the Just Rite Club in 1946 and was active in Extension work and was Garden County Extension Chairperson in 1954. She was also a member of Oshkosh Chapter #264 Order of Eastern Star and received her 50-year pin in 2001. She was Worthy Matron in 1966 and was appointed Grand Representative of Arizona in Nebraska for 1993 and 1994.

Her church, her family and friends were a very important part of her life. After moving to Oshkosh in. 1975, she transferred her membership to the United Methodist Church in Oshkosh in November of 1978. She held various offices of the church, including Lay Leader and delegate to the Annual Church Conference and was president of the United Methodist Women for 10 years (at various times). On May 1, 2005, Pastor Ray Weinerman of the United Methodist Church presented her a pin and certificate for. being a member for 75 years.

For many years she enjoyed sewing and fashioned for herself and her family. She also crocheted and knitted afghans for each member of her family and many friends. Later, she turned her talents to Needlepoint pictures, many of which now hang in her home. Her hands were seldom idle, and she enjoyed sharing with others. She loved to listen to GOOD music, rather than to watch TV. She belonged to several bridge clubs and hosted many bridge parties and also catered receptions for weddings, anniversaries, birthdays and other special occasions for family and friends.

In 1990, she decided to enjoy the warmer winters in Banning, California where she made many new friends. She spent the summers in Oshkosh, and in 1994, decided to stay in Oshkosh to be able to attend the activities of her children and grandchildren.

Her husband, Marvin, preceded her in death in December 1987, also five brothers, one sister and her parents.

She leaves many memories for her family. Survived by her children, Kay Vincent and her husband, Jack of Lewellen, Carl Clark and wife Sharon of Omaha and Galen Clark and wife Jonna of Oshkosh; grandchildren, Kevin Vincent and wife Valerie of Oshkosh, Renee Lucero and fiance' Russ Albee of Lewellen, Heidi Larson and husband Brian of Tea, South Dakota, Erik Clark of Lincoln, Konna Strack and husband Jeremy of Lincoln, and James M. Clark and special friend Tasha Billey of Chappell; she also leaves nine great-grandchildren.
