Melvin C. Bingham, 91, of palo, passed away into his heavenly home on Tuesday, April 10, 2007, at Heartland Health Care Center, Ionia.
He was born June 6, 1915, in Ionia to Guy and Cordelia Luce Bingham.
Melvin had been a lifelong resident of Palo, where he was a memeber of the Palo United Methodist Church. He graduated from high school in 1991 at the age of 76 and then went on to attend Montcalm Community College. He loved learning opportunities, animals, and life in general. Melvin was affectionately known as "the mayor of Palo" by everyone who knew him and he will be missed by the entire town.
He was preceded in death by his father, Guy Bingham, in 1942; his mother, Cordelia Bingham, in 1954, and three brothers. He is survived by one cousin, Gladys Scott of Northville; his special guardians, Rosemary and Jerry Reams of Ionia; and many special frends.
Funeral services are 11 a.m. Thursday at Simpson Family Funeral Home, Sheridan with the Rev. Charles E. Cerling officiating. Interment is in Palo Cemetery.
Visitation is one hour before the funeral Thursday at the funeral home.
For those desiring, it has been suggested that memorial consideration be made to either Palo United Methodist Church or Palo Community School Library.
