CUMBERLAND,MARYLAND ‹ William E. Rowan, 72, of 5125 Wright Ave., Baltimore, MD 21505, formerly of Cumberland and Oakland, died Monday, June 21, 1999, at his residence.

Born Dec. 2, 1926, in Keyser, W.Va., he was the son of the late Peter J. and Ada (Fleming) Rowan. He also was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Frances Milnecki.

Mr. Rowan was retired from Giant Food. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was Catholic by faith. He was a member of the United Food and Commercial Workers Union, Proctor Kildow Post 0071 American Legion, Oakland, and the VFW.

Surviving are his wife, Maxine E. (Iman) Rowan; four daughters, Donna M. Buddington and husband Glen, Durham, N.C., Sharon E. Dawson and husband Dennis, Baltimore, Claudia J. Balsinger, Baltimore, Patricia L. Martin and husband Larry, Greenbelt; three sons, Richard L. Rowan, Tennessee, William E. Rowan, Prince Georges County, and Ronald S. Rowan, Baltimore; two sisters, Josephine Livengood and Margaret Grubbs, both of Oakland; one brother, Leo Livengood, Oakland; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, PA, 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home Thursday at 11 a.m. with Father Vane Pastors, OF, Cap., officiating.

Interment will be in the Maryland State Veterans Cemetery at Rocky Gap, Flintstone. Graveside military honors will be accorded by the Combined Veterans Honor Guard.
