Bessie Irene Taylor was born to Willis Doss Taylor and Emma Smith. She was married to James Iverson Blackmon. They had Three children. One died as an infant and the other two lived into adulthood. (James Chester Blackmon and Ola Pearl Blackmon).

Bessie Irene's maternal grandparents were Irene Bessie Hobson Smith and Bartholomew Smith (Bart was born in Ireland.) The Hobson's were from Alabama.

Mary Ann Smith, Emma's sister, married Benjamin Blackmon, who was the Uncle of James Iverson Blackmon. Bessie Irene, James Iverson's wife. was the niece of Mary Ann and Benjamin Blackmon.

Bessie Irene was committed to Abliene State School by her Aunt Mary Ann and her husband, James Iverson. According to a family story by Bessie's first cousin, Pearl Timms... that as children, they were told that Bessie irene drown in the creek behind where she lived. It is now known that she died from pneumonia at the Abliene State School.
