Tom, age 85, died at Via Christi-St. Francis in Wichita. He was the son of Walter Lee Sr. and Ethel Leona (Potter) Blount. He graduated from Cedar Point High School and served in the US Army, receiving three Bronze Stars and other decorations and awards for his bravery above and beyond the call of duty. One Bronze Star was accompanied by a letter from President Eisenhower commending him for pulling some of his injured men to safety while under enemy fire during the Korean War. He married Redenta Marispin on March 5, 1952, in Toronto, Canada.

He is survived by his son, Greg Blount, his siblings, Walter Blount, James Blount, Anna Meyers, Dorothy Bower, and Shirley Lincoln, and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, his siblings, George Blount, Robert Blount, Jean Owen, Virgiline Roever, and Marlene Blount, and his half-siblings, Jacob Hulsizer, Viola Shipp, and Frankie Sprague.

A memorial service was held at Brown-Bennett-Alexander Funeral Home in Cottonwood Falls. Military honors were conducted by Fort Riley Honor Guard Detail. Cremation has taken place; his cremains will be scattered.
