Merle Vivian Mize was born in Noble, Oklahoma on January 20, 1940 and departed this life in Shawnee, Oklahoma on August 14, 2005. She was 65 years of age. She was the daughter of George and Lena Belle Barnhill Mize.

She married Henry R. Mize on October 18, 1957 in Bakersfield, California.

Merle was a homemaker and a resident of Lincoln County for many years and was of the Pentecostal faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, one sister, one granddaughter and one grandson.

Survivors include her husband, Henry R. Mize of Meeker, three sons, Richard Mize of White Oak Texas, Henry W. Mize of Meeker, Oklahoma and James B. Mize of Sparks, Oklahoma, four daughters and sons-in-law, Vickie L. Tipton of Arab, Alabama, Lanell and Carl Warren of Texarkana, Texas, Rebecca Rudd of Norman, Oklahoma and Suzanne Bristow of Shawnee, Oklahoma, two brothers, Ed Mize of Taft, California and George Mize of Bristow, Oklahoma, one sister, June Hook of Fillmore, Utah, twenty one grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Longtime resident Merle Vivian Mize departed this life on Saturday, August 14 in Shawnee at the age of 65. She was born January 20, 1940 in Noble to George and Lena Belle Barnhill Mize.

On October 18, 1957, she married Henry R. Mize in Bakersfield, California. Merle was a homemaker and was of the Pentecostal faith.

Survivors include her husband, Henry R. Mize of Meeker, three sons, Richard Mize of White Oak, Texas, Henry W. Mize of Meeker and James B. Mize of Sparks, four daughters and son-in-law, Vickie L. Tipton of Arab, Alabama, Lanell and Carl Warren of Texarkana, Texas, Rebecca Rudd of Norman and Suzanne Bristow of Shawnee, two brothers, Ed Mize of Taft, California and George Mize of Bristow, one sister, June Hook of Fillmore, Utah, twenty one grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Viewing will be 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. today at Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel, Meeker.

Service will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Assembly of God Church in Meeker with the Rev. Charles Percey officiating. Burial will follow in New Hope Cemetery, Meeker.

Arrangements are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service of Meeker.
