Pleasant Woodson Horner Jr was the son of Spencer Pleasant Horner 1813 – 1884 and Rebecca Haun 1813 – 1879. His siblings were: Mary Elizabeth Horner 1835; Nancy Minerva Horner 1840 – 1879; Lavana Carolina Horner 1843 – 1874; Joseph Marion Horner 1844 – 1912; Martha Melvina Horner 1848 – 1877; Deadrick Nelson Horner 1850 – 1920; Louis Franklin Horner 1854 – 1853 and Thomas Newton Horner 1856 – 1929.

Tennessee State Marriages, confirm that Pleasant W Homer wed Martha Philips on 17 Oct 1866 in Hawkins Co., Tennessee: From this marriage were born the following children:
Mollie L Horner 1869 – 1870; Thomas J Horner 1871 – 1871; Margaret (Maggie) Horner 1872; James Deadrick Horner 1874 – 1937; John P Horner 1877 – 1926; Jesse Horner 1882 – 1926 and Harrison Venoy Horner 1889 – 1979.

In the 1900 census it was learned that he was living on a farm that he owned and was paid for in rural St Clair, Hawkins Co., Tennessee. He had been married 33 years and Maggie had given birth to 7 children and 5 of them were living. Two of the boys were in their 20's and helping on the farm.

March 14, 1912 was a sad day for Mattie and the family. The
Tennessee, Death Records, confirmed that P W Horner died at the age of 66 of Chronic diarrhea in Whitesburg, Hawkins Co., Tennessee.
