THOMAS EDGAR WILLIAMS
(“Uncle Ed”)
Date of Birth: February 22, 1884, in Tennessee
Date of Death: August 1, 1956, New Salem, Kaufman County, Texas
Spouse: Rittie Latham Williams
Father: Thomas Williams
Mother: Martha J. Prince Williams
Sisters: Mrs. Cora Reese, Mrs. Lillie Hewitt
Son: Robert Williams
Daughter: Mrs. J. M. Brown
One child preceded him in death. He and Rittie are buried at College
Mound Cemetery, Kaufman County, Texas.
Uncle Ed was a true Cowboy, who rode the Chisolm Trail. He was a rough
and tough man, just as you would expect a cowboy to be. Joe Williams
always idolized his great uncle and looked up to him because of this.
When Joe accepted Jesus as his personal Savior in 1952 at the age of 11,
he went to Uncle Ed’s house to tell him and invite him to come to his
baptism. Uncle Ed came and sat in the truck to watch the baptism – I
guess he didn’t feel worthy to join the crowd. He then accepted Jesus as
his personal Savior, too, at 68 years of age. Four years later, he passed
away. The old Cowboy rode the trail on to his heavenly home.
