Eri was born October 9, 1818 in Wayne County Indiana to Charles and Susanna (Thomas) Beauchamp. Eri was about 5 years of age when his parents came to Parke County Indiana (1823). He remained at home until the age of 14 when he hired out, carrying his wages to his father until he arrived at majority. At the age of 22, he bought 40 acres of land, which he afterward sold. He now owns 145 1/2 acres. He was married on March 14, 1842 to Martha Nevins, daughter of George & Katherine (Rice) Nevins. Their children are Sarah K. b May 28, 1845, Susan E. b September 10, 1846, Mary J. b April 1, 1848, Martha A. b February 25, 1856 and Jasper b March 26, 1862. Mr. and Mrs. Eri Beauchamp are members of the Missionary Baptist Church. Prior to the civil war, Mr. Eri Beauchamp was working for General Steele, at the Mansfield Mill, when he met with a serious accident, having his scapula broken into three places and all the ribs on the left side fractured. This disabled him for war duty. He has always voted Republic ticket. He is one of Parke County's early settlers. Eri died July 4, 1889 in Bridgeton, Raccoon Township, Parke County Indiana. He is buried at the Nevins Cemetery in Parke County.
