He was the son of William James and Abigail (Wheeler) Wheeler.
James Moses Wheeler came into Paintsville, Kentucky Floyd County (which is Lawrence County Now). He came from Floyd County to Hoods Fork of Blaine Creek. He was appointed Justice of the Peace in and for the county of Lawrence in Kentucky, by John Adair, Gov. of Kentucky March 25, 1822.
He married Eleanor Fairleanah Harrison on February 07, 1792 in Washington County, Virginia.
Their children were- James Harrison Wheeler married Elizabeth Ramey., John Harrison Wheeler married Nancy Woods., Eleanor Wheeler married Walter Elam., Nancy Wheeler married Joshua Ramey and Jane Wheeler married William Cordial. James Moses Wheeler later married a widow Catherine Daniels Chandler. They had a son Chambers Wheeler that married America Graham.
