BOBBY LYNN BUTCHER passed away October 28, 2008 in Yuma, Arizona. He was born December 1, 1926 in Sedalia, Missouri.
Bob came to Yuma in 1946 after service in the Merchant Marines. One of his first businesses was an old Cushman scooter turned into an ice cream wagon. He ran the Tip-Top Drive in from 1949 to 1953 with his first wife, Letha.
He owned a used car lot on Orange Avenue and 4th Avenue through the 1950's and 1960's. He was also the Studebaker dealer in Yuma during that period.
In the 70's he sold mobile homes, developing Del Oro Mobile Estates on Avenue B. The 1980's brought on the Arizona Avenue Swap Meet, the largest in town at that time. Bob really enjoyed making deals and helping folks out.
He leaves behind his loving partner of 23 years, Betty Wallick. He is also survived by a son, Dr. Bruce (Linda) Butcher; daughter Janet (Mike) Jones; grandchildren, Tim, Ryan and Casey Butcher and Michael and Jack Osborn; and brothers Gary and Richard Warner.
Bob didn't want a funeral, just a party. A celebration of his life - with Mexican food and memories - was held at his office on Arizona Avenue on Saturday, November 1, 2008 from 12 noon to 4 p.m.

Note: Despite the fact that they did not have a formal marriage ceremony, I have linked Bob and Betty Lucille "Betty Lu" URBAN Wallick [1926-2021 #227290055] together. They did, after all, spent TWENTY-THREE years together, in a 'fairy tale romance.' They were classmates in grade school - and Bob had a crush on Betty Lu back then. They grew up, both left Sedalia and lived separate lives, marrying others, and starting families. Bob (divorced at that point) had returned to Sedalia ( I believe following his father's death) and while there, asked if anyone knew anything about Betty (who by then was a widow.) They connected, and the rest is, shall we say, the stuff fairy tales are made from. She joined him in Arizona, and they spent 23 years together. Partners in business, partners in travel, partners in life. So yes, I've connected their memorials here on Find a Grave.
