Carrie Jones Burkhalter Blocker, 83, died Sunday, August 4, 2002, at Brian Center Nursing Home in Lumber City. She was a lifelong resident of Tattnall County, a homemaker, and a member of Love's Chapel Primitive Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Prentice Harrison Burkhalter and Revis Blocker.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara Ann and Stanford Tillman of Hazlehurst; three sons and daughters-in-law: Alva and Myra Burkhalter of Bainbridge; Don and Terri Lynn Burkhalter of Jesup; and Gregg and Gail Burkhalter of Lawrenceville; three sisters: Leila Kicklighter of Glennville; Ruby Poore of Ft. Pierce, Florida; and Ellen Jones of Brunswick; one brother, Oren Jones of Cobbtown; three granddaughters; one great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 7, at Carter Funeral Chapel in Glennville, with Elder W. H. Durrence officiating. Burial was in Love's Chapel Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jay Blocker, Larry Baker, Martin O'Donnell, Chris Missel, Damon Kennedy, and Steve Denton.
Carter Funeral Chapel of Glennville, Georgia, was in charge of the arrangements.
