He printed samples and sent one to every Johnson household in Minneapolis. The idea was a success and in 1939, he founded Miles Kimball Company of Oshkosh WI which is still a major mail order catalog in the US.
Miles and his wife Alberta were extremely philanthropic supporting PBS, Oshkosh Library and the Oshkosh local school system among others.
