John Belfield Milam was the son of Jordan Milam and Mary Peacock. He married Levica Louise Hamby February 17, 1818 in Hickman, Tennessee. He was the father of Isaac Belfield Milam, William Milam, Drury Milam, Dudley Milam, Rebecca Milum and Gideon Milam. His widow, Levica is buried in the Milam Cemetery in Boone County, Arkansas, along with sons Isaac, William and Gideon. Milam is often spelled Milum.
