Edwin T Pope Sr., one of oldest citizens (of Randolph, Utah) passed away Friday morning at the home of his daughter Mrs. Ray Osborn.

Mr. Pope was born in Millville, Utah, April 20 1865 a son of E L (Edwin Theodore) and Elizabeth Pearce Pope. His family moved to Randolph when he was a small boy, about six years old and has lived in Randolph all his life.

He married Miss Laura Gunn January 21, 1887. Ten sons and daughters survive: William R Pope and Mrs. Charles Owens of Green River Wyoming, Lloyd D Pope and Mrs. A J Barns of Ogden, Edgar R Pope, Ely Nevada, Orland C Pope Provo Utah, Wilber B Pope Cokeville, Wyoming, Edwin T Pope, Mrs. Harry Limb and Mrs. Ray Osborn of Randolph; one brother, Charles E Pope of Idaho falls; 61 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at Randolph Monday under the direction off Glen H Rex 2nd Counselor, as follows:
Opening song “Oh My Father” by the Randolph choir. Invocation Wm. Jacobson of Provo; solo, “My Prayer” by Mrs. June Kennedy. Glen Rex was the first speaker, and gave a history of Mr. Pope’s life. He had fifteen children, ten are still living. He has fifteen grandsons in the U.S service and five granddaughter’s husbands are also in the service.

Hyrum Norris was the next speaker and he said Ed Pope was a monument to the town, always working, always had a hand shake and a smile for all he met, was a clean, honest, just, man charitable to all. He said he left a host of friends who esteem his memory.

Sgt. Grant Muir who is home on furlough was the next speaker. He said he had lived a righteous life. He said he had lived and taught the gospel by example. He said he had finished his work on this earth and had gone to do a greater work.

Joyce Bitton of Ogden sang “In a Garden”

Dave Hoffman was the next speaker. He said he was a willing worker in public life he was one of the early pioneers of this valley he had no enemies and was loyal to his many friends.

Closing song “Abide with Me” by the choir. Benediction by Wm. Johnson.

Six grandsons acted as pallbearers.

The Reaper extends sympathy to the bereaved family.
The following were among the out of town people attending the funeral: Mr. and Mrs. Ben Gunn, Woodruff; Miss. Bitton, Ogden; Mrs. Mildred Condas and family of Evanston; Mr. and Mrs. John Fisher Evanston; Chas. Pope of Idaho Falls.

Pvt. Jesse Limb, Mr. and Mrs. Gib Willoughby and Mrs. Roy Goodrich of Ogden; Mrs. John Marsh and son Rex, Miss Laura Limb and friend; Mr. and Mrs. Alfa Limb, Mr. and Mrs. Aalf. Gunn and Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Jacobson. All his sons and daughters attended the service.
