31 Jan 1940: Mrs. Elizabeth B. McCurdy, wife of Morris McCurdy, passed away suddenly at 9:30 o'clock Tuesday evening, at the family home at 302 East Cherry Street, Palmyra, from the effects of a heart attack less than ten hours previous to her demise. She was aged 54 years. She visited friends away from her home on Monday evening, and on Tuesday morning was about her household duties apparently in a normal condition of health, but about noon was stricken. Medical aid failed to revive the flickering spark of life and she passed peacefully away at the hour stated. Mrs. McCurdy was a faithful member of Trinity Reformed Church, Palmyra, and was associated for a long time with the Philathea Ladies Bible Class of the Sunday school. She was twice married and leaves in addition to her husband, two sons, Charles and Howard Shearer, and four daughters, Mrs. Warren Hartman, of Hershey RFD 1; Mrs. Earl Embich, of Middletown; Miss Nora, at home, and Mrs. John Beck, of Palmyra. Mrs. Eliza Schuehman, of Campbelltown, is a sister, and Claude Arnold, of Lebanon, and John Arnold, of Lebanon, are brothers. [Lebanon Daily News]

Funeral on Saturday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock, from Arnold Funeral Home, 712 Chestnut Street, Lebanon. Services at 2 P. M. Trinity Reformed Church, Palmyra. Interment at Salem Reformed Cemetery, Campbelltown. Relatives and friends are invited to attend without further notice. Friends may call Friday evening 7 to 9 at the Arnold Funeral Home.
