Mrs. Polly Sue Detter Brownell, 64, died at Gaston Memorial Hospital. She was born to the late William Pride Detter and Mary Moore Inman. Polly was a member of Souls Harbor Tabernacle Church in Gastonia. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Becky Renee Moore, Joyce McDonald and Mae Etta Shubert; brothers, Floyd Detter and Ronald Eugene Detter; grandchildren, Tony James Adams Jr. and Rhonda Denise Ledford and son-in-law, Billy Whitley. Survivors include her husband, James Earl Brownell; sons, Alvin Fred Harris (Kim), and John Harris Jr. of Gastonia; daughters, Donna Adams (Tony), and Teresa Whitley both of Gastonia; brother, Charles Lewis Detter of Gastonia; sisters, Judith Connor of Kings Mountain, and Frances McMillian of Gastonia; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
