DEATH OF DR. ENNIS
Began Practice at Trafalgar with Dr. Byers.

The following is taken from the Kankakee, Illinois Democrat of December 26, which gives an account of the death of Dr. I. B. Ennis who began practicing medicine in Trafalgar, with Dr. R. S. Byers:
CHEBANSE, Dec 25 – Dr. I. B. Ennis, our widely known physician, died at his home in this place at 4:30 this morning of peritonitis, brought on by an attack of grippe. But a week before his death he had, though noticeably ill, attended to his office practice and while unwell and during inclement weather he had responded to the urgent calls of country patients, who little comprehended that their desire to avail themselves of his skill was the preparing of the way for the making of another martyr to the exacting duties of the medical profession.
The deceased was devoted to his profession and in addition to the duties of a general practice, had become celebrated through his treatment of cancer, which dread malady, as well as malignant sores of all kinds, he treated with remarkable success. The equipment of his office could not perhaps be duplicated this side of Chicago, and he kept in touch with the advanced thinkers in his profession.
Isaac Benson Ennis was a fourth child of Bartholomew and Mrs. Ennis, and was born at Franklin, Johnson county, Indiana, on November 26, 1870. His early life was spent on his father’s farm. While yet in his teens he began teaching school after which he entered the Kentucky School of Medicine, from which he graduated on June 20, 1893. In 1896 he began practicing medicine at Waldgin, practicing afterward at Martinton, Gilman and Rock Island.
He was married on April 5, 1899 to Miss Maud Fanning, and on December 8, 1903, he began practicing his profession at Chebanse.
Besides his sorely bereft widow, to whom the star of Christmas was sadly and unexpectedly obscured by the cross of heavy affliction, his father, three brothers, and one sister are left to mourn his early death.
The funeral will take place at 1:00 on Friday at the Methodist church and under the auspices of the I.O.O.F. lodge of which he was a member.
