Lexington Intelligencer, January 09, 1920 Death of Mrs. John E. Ryland Mrs. Nancy Pettice Ryland, widow of the late Judge John E. Ryland, died Tuesday at 4 o'clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. F. Lee Wallace, 1909 South street, death being due to pneumonia after only a few days' illness. Mrs. Ryland was born in Fairfax county, Virginia, April 18, 1835, her maiden name being Nancy Pettice Palmer. She had lived in this county since childhood. On December 11, 1860, she was united in marriage with Judge John E. Ryland, who died December 15, 1905. Mrs. Ryland was a life-long, active and conscientious member of the Methodist Episcopal church South. The survivors are the following six children: Isaac P. Ryland, of Kansas City; Mrs. Dr. Griswold, of New York City; Rev. Edwin P. Ryland, of Los Angeles, Calif.; Mrs. F. Lee Wallace, of Lexington; Dr. C.T. Ryland, of Lexington; and John Reid Ryland, of Brush, Col. The funeral services conducted by Rev. J.E. Alexander, were held at the Methodist church Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock.
