George stood 6'4" tall in his prime. He married Miss Carrie B. Wheaton of Springwater, New York, on July 19, 1898.

In September of 1895 he was working as a clerk at the Hamison and Preston store at Italy, Yates County, NY. During the 1890's he purchased lot 103, a 247 acre farm known as the "Elm Stock Farm" on the flats just south of Hemlock Lake in Springwater, NY. The farm was previously owned by Elisha Bailey. This was the third lot north of Kellogg Road [see time period Springwater maps], a lot which bordered what is now Marrowback Road to the west and Highway 15A to the east and the former Wemett farm to the south. He and his family grew wheat for hay. His sold the farm in 1919, when the city of Rochester started purchasing and removing the farms and cottages surrounding Hemlock Lake, due to the lake being used as a reservoir for Rochester.

"George P. Fisher held an auction at his farm north of this village Tuesday. E.R. Bolles was the auctioneer." (Wayland Register, 23 Oct 1919)

"For Sale or Rent - The old Allen & Whitlock property located in the village of Springwater, N. Y. One of the best locations for a general store in Livingston county. Inquire of George P. Fisher, Springwater, N. Y." (March 6, 1920, The Springwater Star)

"George Fisher is moving to his new home which he recently purchased on School Street." (Wayland Register, Sept 1923)

"Erwin Perkins recently installed a De Laval milker on the farm occupied by George P. Fisher." (June 16, 1927, The Wayland Register)

"The tearing down and removing of the house and barn on the George Fisher farm has begun and these buildings which have stood so many years will soon be a matter of history. As the land is city property it is necessary to remove the buildings." (Wayland Register, Sept 1923)

He was highway superintendent for Springwater from 1918 - 1922 and from 1925 - 1930. Springwater town assessor from 1940 through 1948. Trustee of the Springwater school located on School Street. Forty year member of the Livingston Lodge IOOF (Independent Order of Odd Fellows), a member of the Rebekahs and the Springwater Grange.

"George P. Fisher, 77, died Friday, September 25, 1953, at his home in Springwater. He was a member of the Odd Fellow and Rebekah lodges and of the Grange in Springwater. He was town superintendent of highways for eight years, and was an assessor for four years in that town. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Carrie Wheaton Fisher; three daughters, Mrs. James Duffy, of Springwater, Mrs. Albert J. Braun, of Naples, and Mrs. Thomas Sonne, of Buffalo; six grandchildren. Services were held from the home on Tuesday at 2 p. m., and burial was made in Mt. Vernon Evergreen cemetery, in Springwater." (Sep. 30, 1953, The Naples Record)
