Ida M. Baker Henry, 93, of Madison, died Monday, Nov. 3, 2008, at her residence.

She was born Sept. 10, 1915, in Mutual, Okla., the daughter of James A. and Maggie Crews Baker. She moved to Indiana when she was in the fifth grade. She was employed as a licensed practical nurse from 1952 until her retirement in 1993. She began at St. Francis Hospital in Beech Grove and then served as administrator at Ada's Golden Age in Indianapolis. Her final nine years working were at a Madison nursing home. She was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Madison.

She is survived by one daughter, Velva Evans of Madison; two sons, Donald Henry of Maumee, Ohio, and Ronald Henry of Spencer; six grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Marshall Henry, whom she married Oct. 5, 1935, and who died June 28, 1967; her father; her mother, Maggie Crews Walker Baker McIntire; her stepfather, Mac McIntire; two half sisters; and one grandson.

The funeral was at Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre. A graveside service and burial were in New Crown Cemetery.
