Born in Hill Twp., son of James Henderson Wooden and Nancy Jane (Miles) Wooden. Married Bessie Ellen Stephens, Feb. 26, 1913 in Carroll County, MO. Married secondly to Verna Cleo Fields, Dec. 6, 1941 in Livingston County, MO. Died at Chillicothe Hospital.

THOMAS WOODEN

Thomas H. Wooden, 85, a resident of rural Hale, passed away at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the hospital in Chillicothe.

Born March 7, 1887 in the Blue Mound community, he was the son of Henderson and Nancy Miles Wooden. On Feb. 26, 1913, he was married to Bessie Ellen Stephens. She passed away in 1927. In 1941, he was married to Verna Fields. She, too preceded him in death in 1963.

He was a retired farmer and had made his home in the Dawn and Blue Mound areas most of his life. In 1963, he moved to Hale where he lived with a daughter, Mrs. Wallace (Ila) Lineberry.

Besides his daughter, he leaves two sons, Harold Wooden, Great Falls, Montana, and Lowell Wooden, Big Fork, Montana. One son, Glenn, preceded him in death.

He is further survived by two brothers, Wiley Wooden, Chillicothe, and Miles Wooden, Alamoosa, Colorado, Three sisters, Mrs. Leth Burke, Miss Opal Wooden and Miss Ilene Wooden, all of Kewanee, Illinois, 11 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at the Austin-Lindley Funeral Home at Hale, Wednesday at 2 p.m. The Rev. Mr. Bruce Trussell officiated. Burial was in Arkadelphia Cemetery.
