Carl Walton Dies at Local Hospital
Carl Walton 73, of Auburn, died May 31, in the local Hospital following a lingering illness.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday at 1:00 pm, in the Auburn Ward Chapel with Denzel Wood officiating. Prayer in the home was given by Doyle Hyde.

Carl Walton was born August 2, 1880, the son of Samuel Augustine Walton and Eliza Kent Call, youngest of the family of six children
He attended school at Woodruff, Utah, until the fall of 1888. When he was eight years old the Walton family moved to Star Valley.
The family settled on a ranch six miles northwest of Auburn. In order to attend school, young Walton walked the distance of eight miles each day, many times on snow shoes.
In 1907 he was called to a Mission to the Central States. Before the expiration of the two years, he was called home to care for his invalid mother.
In 1908, he married Lillian L. Hyde in the Logan LDS Temple, and the Waltons made their home on the Walton Ranch. Four Daughters were born to this union. Mrs. Walton died after five years of marriage.
In the fall of 1917, he married Maude Searight, who survives him along with three daughters, Mrs Caryle (Leona) Hyde, Mrs. Forrest (Leota) Holladay, Mrs. Rose Civils. His daughter Elva preceded him in death during the summer of 1924.
Mr. Walton was an active worker in the LDS Church. He has served as President of the Deacons Quorum,Assistant in the MIA and Sunday School and was one of the seven Presidents of the Seventies Quorum in his District. He also served as a Stake Missionary, a ward teacher for 30 years and was chairman of the ward genealogical committee. He was a teacher in the Sunday School until his illness. Walton was a member of the Board of Education and President of the Stockman's Association.
In addition to his wife and children, he is survived by 12 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and two sisters, Mrs. Rose Tolman of Pocatello, Mrs D.T. Wood of Auburn. One Grandson Jerald Hyde, is serving in the air force in Okinawa at present and was unable to attend the funeral

Saxton , Mrs. Lola Devenberg and Shonna, Mrs. Hazel Noreen, Mrs. Ab Millward, Mrs Cora Sorenson,Pocatello; Mr. and Mrs. Rosel Hyde, Mr and Mrs. Albert Harrison, Mrs May Jones, Mr and Mrs David Hyde, Mrs Mae Hale, Rupert Idaho; Mr and Mrs Vasco Walton, Mr and Mrs M.C.
