Daingerfield L. Ashton, Sr., 92, of Spartanburg, SC, passed away on Saturday, November 1, 2008 at Regional Hospice Home. He was the husband of Louise Cloninger Ashton of the home. Mr. Ashton was first married to the late Ruth Herzberg Ashton. Mr. Ashton was a native of Washington, DC and a son of the late Lewis Alexander and Martha Ashton. He was a retired Feed and Grain Broker and a member of Cannon United Methodist Church. He was a former member of the Charleston Yacht Club. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son: Daingerfield L. Ashton, Jr. of Boiling Springs; daughter: Sarah Ashton of Charleston, SC; daughters and sons in law: Kimberly and Aaron Cantrell of Spartanburg, Katrina and Calvin Grier of Atlanta, GA; Lisa Ashton McCulley of Spartanburg; sister in law: Marybelle Ashton of King George, VA, as well as grandchildren Rachel of Spartanburg, Rebekah Ashton-Moss of Seattle, WA, Charlie, Emery Ruth, and Callahan Grier of Atlanta, Mary Kate and Abigail Cantrell of Spartanburg. Two great grandchildren, Suzanna Iris and Ava Rose, also survive him. A Memorial Service will be conducted on Monday, November 3, 2008 at 4:00 p.m. at Cannon United Methodist Church officiated by Rev. Doug Gilliland and Rev. James Johnson. The family will meet friends for one hour prior to the service at the Church. Interment will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 8, 2008 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church Cemetery in King George County, Virginia.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Regional Hospice Home, 686 Jeff Davis Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29303. The family will be at the residence.
