Death of Rea I. Murray.

We neglected to notice the death of Rea I. Murray last week. He died at Denison, in Jackson county, March 3, while on a visit to Edward Armstrong, his father-in-law. Rea was the youngest son of A.A. and Cornelia P. Murray, who live on the top of the hill just this side of Valley Falls. He was born in Decatur, Illinois, Dec. 1st, 1861. He was married at the Falls to Miss Mary Elizabeth Armstrong the 9th of Feb., 1887. The first year of marriage he rented a farm of Mr. R.H. Crosby, and tried farming for awhile, but not being successful, worked at different employments, finally drifting out to the mountains, where he eventually procured a good situation in a grocery and butcher shop at Colorado Springs, and was doing well, when he was taken down with Bright disease, and believing the climate of the mountains not beneficial, came back with his little family to Valley Falls to his father's house last October, where he remained all winter and up to a few days of his death. He leaves a wife and three small children.
We have known Rea for a number of years--in fact since the first coming of his father to Valley Falls from Decatur, Illinois, some thirteen years ago. He was possessed of considerable energy, alert and active, yet quiet and unobtrusive, connecting himself with the Congregational church at Valley Falls shortly after the family's arrival. His body was brought down from Denison and buried at Valley Falls on the 5th of this month. The editor's family deeply sympathizes with Lizzie and her three little children, and tender them their heartfelt commiserations in this sad bereavement.
