Miss Viola M. Alderfer 85 died July 10 2004 at Life Quest Nursing Center in Quakertown. She had been a lifelong resident of Harleysville. Born in Harleysville she was a daughter of the late John and Lizzie (Moyer) Alderfer.

She had been employed by the former Franklin Tile Co. in Lansdale the former Quakertown Seamless Hosiery Mill the former Granite Hosiery Mill of Souderton and Merrill Y. Landis Draperies of Telford. She retired in her early seventies.

She loved to feed and watch birds enjoyed planting flowers and watching them grow had a small garden sewed her own dresses etc. and enjoyed her nieces and nephews. She served others all her life.

Miss Alderfer was a lifelong member of Franconia Mennonite Church where she was a former Sunday school teacher. She enjoyed quilting at the sewing circle.

Survivors include many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by five brothers Norman Wilmer Mahlon John and Paul Alderfer; and one sister Lizzie Mae Lapp.

Viewing hours are Wednesday from 6 to 7:30 P.M. at the Franconia Mennonite Church Route 113 in Franconia. The funeral service will follow the viewing hours. Burial in the adjoining church cemetery will be Thursday at 9:30 A.M. Memorial contributions in her name may be made to the Franconia Mennonite Church 613 Harleysville Pike Telford PA 18969. Arrangements are by the Anders-Detweiler Funeral Home in Souderton.
