Obit: Last Friday evening, Nov. 15th, 1946, death came to the relief of Ernest Jones, 82, a lifelong resident of our village. Mr. Jones suffered a stroke eight years ago and since that time has been in very poor health. Recently he suffered a fall in his home. He was removed to Mercy hospital where he was a patient two weeks and five days before he was called to his heavenly home. He was ready to go to his heavenly home at the Call of the Master, although he hated to leave his beloved wife Nora here on earth to go from her to the place prepared for him. He was one of these quiet persons who never crossed anyone and who always looked upon the good side of all persons and gave them their share of praise and friendly salutation. "Ern" as he was known to his many friends was born April 9th, 1864 in Garden Plain, Ill., son of the late Foster and Elizabeth Cox Jones. He grew to manhood there and he was united in marriage to Miss Nora Mahoney Feb. 3, 1891 with Rev. Father Stack officiating. They purchased their home from Bill Ewing and have lived in the same home for 56 years. Mr. Jones had three brothers, Albert, John, Charles, who preceded him in death, One sister, Mrs. Margaret Cluff and his parents also preceded him in death. Surviving are the bereaved wife, Nora and one sister, Mrs. Cora Brubaker of Morrison. Funeral services were held at 9:30 a.m. in the Immaculate Conception church in Fulton, Father Egan in charge. Pallbears were Charlie Daw, Asa Eads, Albert Coyne, Geo. Sullivan, Edwin Dolan and Vernon Sharer. Those in charge of the flowers were Mrs. Harold George, Mrs. Keith Higgins, Burial was in the Calvary cemetery at Fulton. He is not with us, he has answered his final call from this life into the one where there are no sorrows or suffering and where peace reigneth. He was willing and ready to meet his Saviour face to face for he knew he should be welcomed and fine blessed rest awaiting him on the Golden Shore. He doeth all things well, we will be compelled to submit to his will and trust and believe it is for the best. Thus another of our good and beloved citizens has left us, and are those who are left to fill the vacant place of cheer and kind service equal to the task. May God bless him. "Well done thou good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things I will make thee ruler over many things; enter thou into the joy of the Lord."
