Altha Reed Mather

Stafford - Altha Reed Mather, 87, died Oct. 26, 1992, at the Leisure Homestead, Stafford.

She was born Aug. 14, 1905, at Kinsley, the daughter of Clarence E. and Bessie Elizabeth McCune Reed. She was a 1924 graduate of Stafford High School and received her teaching certificate from Emporia State Teachers College. A resident of Stafford for 56 years, moving from Bucklin, she was a teacher at the Northstar School, and Sunshine School, both in Stafford County, and was homemaker.

She was a member of First Christian Church and the Northstar Community Club, both at Stafford, the Daughters of the American Revolution, and the Daughters of the American Colonists.

On Nov. 7, 1927, she married Marion H. Mather at Stafford. He died June 9, 1992.

Survivors include: four daughters, . . . ; two brothers, Glenn Reed, Stafford, and Kenneth Reed, College Station, Texas; a sister, Mary Blackburn, Stafford; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the First Christian Church, Stafford, with Kenneth Reed presiding. Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m. today at Peacock-Milton Funeral Home, Stafford.
