William Ether "Sox" Butterfield, 84, passed away February 13, 1994.

Born October 22, 1909 in Herriman, Utah to George William and Sophia Nevada White Butterfield. Married Delpha Irene Howell on September 29, 1933 in McCall, Idaho. She died November 16, 1971.Member of the LDS Church. Grandpa, Dad, Brother and Friend, your vibrant, shining blue eyes will forever shine and bring smiles to those who knew you. The gorgeous summer days spent with you in the fields and next to the earth will be greatly missed, but never forgotten. You always provided adventure and hard work for curious little minds to contemplate. Feeding time with you was always grand and challenging; you could tell your grandchildren were growing older when they were able to kick a whole bale of hay into the manger instead of pieces at a time. Your home was always a place to gather, the sound of tractors and animals common, the smell of alfalfa and wheat abundant. Welcome was the word and Grandpa was right inside the door in the chair by the window. No longer will you be by the window, but in the sky as blue as your eyes.

Survived by five children, Darlene (Ron) Coleman, California; Rodney W. (Dixie) Butterfield, Riverton; Larry J. (Charlene) Butterfield, Salt Lake City; Niel G. (Mildred) Butterfield, West Jordan; Delpha G. Murphy, South Jordan; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; brother, Franklin T. Butterfield, Riverton; sister, Ellen Davis, Midvale. Preceded in death by grandson, Trent O'Niel Butterfield.

Funeral services Friday, February 18, 1994, at 11 a.m. in the Goff Mortuary Chapel, 8090 So. State, where friends may call Thursday 6-8 p.m. and Friday one hour prior to the services. Interment, Riverton City Cemetery.
