Rufus Mize enlisted on October 16th, 1862 into the Union Army with his brother William Alexander Mize and was appointed Sergeant. He was a part of the 2nd Tennessee Cavalry, Company K. Rufus would be wounded in the left shoulder at the battle of Decatur, Alabama Oct 27, 1864.
