PLEASANT HILL BOY ELECTROCUTED IN CALIFORNIA

Theo. Wade Loses Life on Duty at Sierra Madre After Storm Wrecks Wire Lines

Theo. Wade, former Pleasant Hill boy, was killed by a live wire at Sierra Madre, Calif., the morning of Feb. 24. The body accompanied by Mrs. Wade, reached this city last Friday and was held at the Hon undertaking rooms until Saturday when a short service was conducted at 2:30 at the Presbyterian Church by the Rev. J. W. Park. Interment in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Wade, who was 28 years, five months and 20 days old, had been manager of the telephone system at Sierra Madre for the last four years. Early morning of Feb. 24 a storm leveled wire lines in Sierra Madre and Mr. Wade was out checking on the damage. A lineman had been called to one point, but he was not dressed for the work in view. Wade said he would fix up the trouble there. He went to work, but did not know that a high tension electric line was mixed up in the mass of phone wires. He took hold of a wire. Death was instantaneous.

The young man, whose father was george Wade, and who died here a year and a half ago, leaves in addition to his wife, his mother of this city, four sisters and four brothers. The sisters are Mrs. Chas. (Susie) Class, Morris Ill.; Mrs. Kellis (Nora) Smith, Kansas City; Mrs. W.B. (Ruth) Abington, Leeton, MO., and Mrs. Herbert (Ethel) Nichols, Howard, Ks. The brothers are Harley, Fresno Calif.; Tom, North Dakota; George and Eber at home here. Theodore was born near Pleasant Hill.

Theodore Wade was married five years ago to Miss Rose Tarwater of Excelalor Springs. For a year afterward they resided in this city, then went to Sierra Madre and that place had since been their home. There, as here, Theodore had many friends by his good nature and his steady ways. His mother speaks feelingly of him, how good a boy he had been, how loyal and dutiful he was to her and the late father. The blow is a heavy one upon the family.

Young Mrs. Wade has gone to Excelsior Springs to visit her father, but will return to Pleasnt Hill to make her home with her mother-in-law.
